A CYCLIST FINED 3000 SAUDI RIYALS FOR CROSSING RED LIGHT

A cyclist in Saudi Arabia was fined with 3000 Saudi Riyals for jumping red light signal in Al Rass, northwest of the capital city Riyadh.




Social media users expressed their anger for penalizing a cyclist, whose bicycle is worth about 200 Saudi Riyals and he need to pay a fine of 3000 SR for crossing red light signal.

- According to the local news Ajel, Traffic source confirmed the fine and explained the amount is same as it is applicable to any other vehicle for jumping red signal.




- One of social media user expressed his feeling by saying the fined amount is almost the 3 months salary of the cyclist, he fully support traffic regulations, but he objected the fined amount.

- While another social media user said how the traffic authorities will enter the cyclist fine in the computer system as the bicycle do not have any license or plate number.



- In support of traffic some users said, Crossing red light is always dangerous it could harm him or any others life, Rule of law should always prevail.

- Some countries will fine even pedestrian walker for not following the rule to ensure the safety, rule is rule for everyone, whether the violator is driving, riding or walking.

SAUDI ARABIA HAS INCREASED HAJJ QUOTA FOR INDIAN PILGRIMS

Saudi Arabia has increased Hajj quota for Indians by 5000 pilgrims after the India's Union Minister Abbas Naqvi's request, The Haj quota for Indian pilgrims is now 1,75,025.




Earlier this year, the Hajj quota for Indian origin pilgrims was 1,70,025. The decision of Saudi Arabia came after a bilateral annual agreement of India for Hajj 2018.

- According to the Indian Minister, The quota was increased by 40,000 nearly in the last two years and it never happened since 1947. For the year 2018 Hajj, Indian received nearly 3.55 lakh applications till now.




- From the 3.55 lakh Indians, Indian Hajj committee will finalize the names of 1.75 lakh who will be applicable for the Hajj this year through a lucky draw.

- However 1300 Indian women who applied for Hajj 2018 without a mahram (Male guardian) is directly eligible with out an lucky draw.

- Saudi Arabia also agreed to revive the decision of receiving Indian Hajj pilgrims through Sea, which was closed long years ago due to long journey between India and Saudi Arabia.

MADINAH EXPERIENCED A 2.5 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE ON 16 JAN 2018

Saudi Arabia's Holy city Madinah experienced a 2.5 magnitude earthquake on Today (16th Jan 2018).




There were no reports of any damages from the earthquake confirmed City officials, The earthquake was at a depth of 7km below the surface and 14km north west of Madinah.

- This is not the first time for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Earlier also small tremors occurred with no damage at all as it was weak and not dangerous.





- According to the local newspaper, General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection said the tremor was weak and it is not dangerous.

Saudi Arabia has agreed to relax visa procedures, reduce fees for Pakistani nationals and to set up a training institute in Pakistan in order to export Pakistani manpower to help and meet its skilled human resource requirements.




A Saudi delegation team from Ministry of Commerce and Investment discussed it with Pakistani Prime Minister on a call, according to the press release of office media.

- Export of Halal food from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia.

- Saudi Investment in construction of South-North Gas pipeline.




- Training Institute in Pakistan to help meet Kingdom's skilled human resource requirements.

- Bilateral Investment treaty and exchange of parliamentary delegations.

- Pakistan-Saudi JMC moot agreed on activating of Saudi-Pakistan Business Council to promote trade and investment on fast track basis while Pak-Saudi bilateral Preferential Trade Agreement(PTA) also came under consideration.

SAUDI ELECTRICITY COMPANY WILL ISSUE E-BILLS INSTEAD OF PAPER BILLS

The Saudi Electricity Company will not issue paper bills anymore as it will now issue e-bills (electronic bills) on every 28th day of Gregorian calendar month.




E-bills can be accessed through Saudi Electricity website www.se.com.sa or through SEC electronic channels, or SEC's app or through SMS service or through registered emails.

- Residents and Citizens of Saudi Arabia can also call on customer care number 920001100 to enquire about their e bills as per the statement of Chairman of the SEC Subscribers services sector.




- The move is because of the royal decree issued before this month which states electric bills should be issued only after the payments of salaries to government officers which is on 27th of each gregorian month.

- Before this year, Saudi Electricity Company launched a series of modern electronic channels in order to facilitate and speed up the process of communication with subscriber through Whatsapp, Tiwtter, Service Center, SMS, Website and Mobile app.

Saudi Arabia is on the top of all countries with highest number of Snapchat application users, as per the latest statistics report 8.2 million Saudi people use Snapchat daily.





Two cities of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh and Jeddah are among the cities with the highest number of Snapchat daily users, The report also revealed that most of the users are in age between 13 to 35 years.

- Eighty five percent (85%) of the Snapchat users are aged between 13 years to 35 years, Increase of using smartphone applications alerted traffic regulation to issue a new regulation on it.

SHOURA COUNCIL PROPOSED A LAW TO BAN ABORTION, STERILIZATION, ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION, HUMAN CLONING & EUTHANASIA

Saudi Arabia's Shoura Council proposed a medical liability law to ban euthanasia (Ending a life to relieve pain and suffering) and human cloning with restrictions on artificial insemination, abortion and sterilization.




Health Council committee was considering proposals submitted by former Shoura members before publishing a final draft. The new law aims is to promote medical injustice by applying Islamic law to practitioners and patients, it also regulate litigation in cases of medical malpractice.

- The law also bans the termination of life of any patient for any reason even at the request of their family.

- It also ban human cloning (creation of genetically identical human) and related research.





- The law also proposed to ban Sterilization (Blocking or sealing the Fallopian tubes of women which links to the womb) except on some medical conditions supported by a specialized medical team with at least 3 doctors.

- Those who violates this law will face 5 to 10 years of prison including a fine of at least 50,000 Saudi Riyals in each case respectively.

- Birth control without consent of a couple will also banned by this proposal.



- Abortion would be accepted only if the life of the mother is at risk or on the request of the couple if a foetus is found to be deformed by medical team with in 4 months.

- Medical liability will not be accepted if the injury is caused by the patient's own act or refusal of treatment or failure to follow instructions or an external factor.





- Health care companies will be required to insure medical practitioners against errors and bear 80% of the annual insurance premium.

Saudi Arabian authorities has banned a teacher for life time after his video of beating a student become viral in social media platforms.




As the video of beating a student became viral in Social Media, Many people call authorities to take strict action against the teacher, so that he can repeat it with any other student.

- As the video became viral, Saudi authorities investigate into the matter and found that it happened in one of its governorate.




- Saudi Authorities in Al Ihsa region issued an order to ban teacher from teaching for life time said Ahmed Balghunaim, the head of Al Ihsa Education Authority.

- Authorities took this decision after the evidence proved the teacher's wrong doing. Teacher confessed and apologized to the student and his parents.




- Now people of social media are divided into two and saying banning teacher permanently was not the proper solution. While other side said beating children is not acceptable and punishable act.

SAUDI MUNICIPALITY AUTHORITIES ARRESTED SEVERAL WORKERS AS THEY FOUND URINE FILLED BOTTLES IN A RESTAURANT

Several workers of a restaurant were arrested in Khamis Musaith as the Saudi authorities found urine filled bottles reported local newspaper Okaz.




The head of the Khamis Musaith Municipality said in a official statement that, all the members involved in this incident was arrested and being investigated.He also said those who detained will be referred to prosecution.

- Municipality officials shared images taken inside the restaurant's kitchen and in a storage room where all the bottles were being filled. The restaurant has been shut down and the name of the restaurant has not been disclosed.




- The images shared by Khamis Musaith municipality authorities in social media are becoming viral and everyone is demanding to take strict action against them.

The tallest camel in the world is in Saudi Arabia's Riyadh now in the Camel Beauty Pageant, King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, This camel is 3 meters taller (300cm) than the present tallest camel (190cm) in the world.




This eight year old camel belongs to Sultan Al Rashidi in Hail, It is one of its own kind as the other two are not that much taller as this camel is. Some one in the festival is tried to buy it for 300,000 Saudi Riyals.

- Camel festival supervisor is in touch with Guinness record people and the status of it is in preliminary stage, once it approved, the camel can be checked to see if there is any other competition to it to become world's tallest camel.

Ministry of Education announce a fine of 1 million Saudi Riyals or 10 years of prison or both on those who physically attack on any teacher or staff member of the educational institution.




Minister of Education Ahmed Al Issa said during a debate on the guidelines in order to protect educational institutions and their staff members, The debate was attended by various ministry officials and their concerned department members.

- Physical attack on any of the ministry's staff will be considered as crime of murder and leads with imprisonment and a fine . The ministry is also working on a document to specify the behavior of the staff, and it will be issued soon.




- Ministry is considering to appoint security guards in boys schools similar to the girls schools, Ministry also planning to install surveillance cameras in schools and all educational levels.

- Number of legal experts reviewed the guide before its finally approved and it was also revised by ministry's legal department.

SAUDI ARABIA RESERVES 12 CATEGORIES JOBS FOR ONLY SAUDI CITIZENS

Ministry of Labor and Social Development in Saudi Arabia has issued a list of 12 jobs that is reserved for only Saudi citizens (Men and Women), expats will be banned from doing these listed jobs starting from the new Hijri year.




Starting from September 11th of this year (2018), sales jobs in the below mentioned four categories will be nationalized, Expats are not allowed to work in these four sectors.

- Car and Motor bike Showrooms

- Readymade clothes stores (Men's and Kids's clothing stores).

- Home and Office furniture stores

- Home appliances and Kitchen utensils stores.




Starting from November 9th of this year (2018), Three more categories will be added in the Saudization list, Expats in these sections will not be allowed to work.

- Electronics and Electric appliances

- Watches and Clocks stores

- Optics stores and eyewear stores




From January 7th of the year 2019, The rule will be extended and will add five more categories in the Saudization list, which allows only Saudi man or women to work in it.

- Medical equipment and Supplies stores

- Building material and Hardware stores

- Auto spare parts stores

- Carpet and floor covering selling stores

- Sweet shops

Uber private cab service now launched its food delivery app called 'Uber Eats' in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia after a successful launch of it in the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emirates.




- Residents of the Riyadh city can now use 'Uber Eats' app or its online website for ordering the food they like in their favorite restaurants around the city.

Riyadh became the third city for Uber Eats service in the Middle East, According to Uber, it has partnered with more than 100 Riyadh restaurants including PizzaHut, McDonalds, Cafe Bateel, Manoosh and Hamburghini.
- Uber Eats app promises to deliver your ordered food in an average of 30 to 40 minutes, It has a feature of cash payment on delivery, which is not available in this app for any another city out of 200 cities except Riyadh.

- According to Souq.com Payment unit, Cash on delivery is the most used payment method in the Middle East countries as they corcerns about their security of credit cards, etc,.

Saudi Arabia is preparing a plan to feminise the restaurant sector by providing job roles to Saudi women, In a effort to decrease the unemployment of Saudi citizens by banning expats from various job roles.




According to the General Authority of Statistics, The unemployment in Saudi Arabia remained stable with 12.8%, even in the third quarter. However the unemployment rate among women is to be believed by 33% high.

- The feminization plan for the Saudi restaurants and hotel kitchen sector is being led by the wife of the emir of Riyadh, Princess Nourah Bint Mohammad. Initially 16 restaurants will hire women for trial jobs.
- The Head of the Huda Al Jiraisi team said, We will hold a workshop with restaurant owners in order to discuss the strategies with them for hiring more women in the restaurants sector.

- The aim of the plan is to reach the Vision by increasing women's contribution in the labor market by 20 to 30% till the year 2030.



- Initiatives are being undertaken across the Saudi Arabia to provide more job opportunities for women including the 3rd phase of feminization in shops selling women's clothing and accessories that began in last October.

- 80% of the transportation costs for female workers is providing by labor ministry for those who are facing difficulties in travel from work place to home, Lifting ban from women driving in June of this year will ease it.

MINISTRY CALLS EMPLOYERS TO ISSUE SALARY CARDS FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS

Ministry of Labor and Social Development in Saudi Arabia requested all the employers of the domestic workers to issue prepaid salary cards  for their workers. Recommend :New rules for domestic workers




Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported all individual employers should issue prepaid payroll or salary cards as soon as their domestic workers entered into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

- In order to get a prepaid payroll card, The employer or sponsor should register for the service at a bank and Musaned website www.musaned.com.sa




- In the Musaned portal, The employer can create an electronic recruitment contract by specifying the workers monthly salary, he can save and print a copy of it.

- The aim of the Ministry's Wage Protection System (WPS) is to protect the rights of both Employer and domestic workers contract and electronically document contracts of these workers. Related : Wage Protection System




- By issuing salary cards to workers, wages will be directly transferred to their bank accounts, which will guarantee the protection of their salaries. Similar :Domestic workers can transfer to new kafeel if his old kafeel did not pay 3 months salary

- Ministry's spokesman said now the Wage Protection System covers all kind of domestic workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and it will gradually be enforced.



- The Ministry provided 6 months of time in order to get on board to all domestic workers of Saudi Arabia in the new scheme.

SAUDI ARABIA APPROVED NEW PENALTIES ON LABOR LAW VIOLATIONS

Minister of Labor and Social Development Dr. Ali bin Nasser al-Ghafis approved on Monday changes on the violation and penalty table which comes as part of the Labor Law’s provisions, its executive regulations and other decisions, a move that goes hand in hand with changes that occur in the labor market.




According to the Ministerial Decision, the ministry increased fines for some violations and amended others as a fine of SR 10,000 is imposed against those who do not comply with Article 38 (hiring of a non-Saudi worker in a profession other than the one specified in his work permit) and Article 15 (failure to open firm’s file or update its data at the labor office).

- Additionally, the ministry enforces a SR 2,000 fine against those who hold passports, residence permits or medical insurance cards without workers’ permission, as well as SR 10,000 for not providing or complying with work regulations at firms.




- If the employer fails to upload wages files of workers on the Wage Management System (WMS) on a monthly basis, he will be fined SR 10,000.

- Those who fail to give vacations entitled to workers or comply with the occupational safety and health (OSH) regulations will be fined SR 10,000 and SR 15,000, respectively.




- The ministry highlighted some provisions were merged and amended, which aims to regulate the labor market and achieve its objectives.

- If the same violation is repeated, the fine will get doubled every time. The violator should remove the committed violation within one month from its date in order to avoid fine increase.



- The violation and penalty table will be constantly under review if needed, commended MLSD.

The official spokesman of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development Khaled Abalkhael explained that the decision to restrict work in car rental outlets to Saudis in all areas of the kingdom, coming into effect 40 days (the first of Rajab next).




In order to increase the level of participation of national citizens in the labor market, by Providing quality solutions that promote the productive and sustainable settlement of the labor market.

- The Labor and social development system is to provide support in several areas, including training and rehabilitation for resettlement, and the provision of program e-training to train young people in targeted activities through the "Drop" platform.





- And to provide technical and financial support to young people wishing to Free pioneering work, along with the establishment of functional forums for the harmonization of employers and job seekers, including access of the national Gateway for Action.

- The provision of support in the area of inspection and the follow-up of settlement decisions in integration with the settlement committees of the "targeted settlement" program.




- The spokesperson pointed out that the Joint inspection teams would monitor the offending establishments with multiple fines, many of which were employed in the professions reserved for Saudis, and in case of repetition of the offence, that fine is doubled.

- After the implementation of the decision, calling on the ministry's clients to communicate through the center Call the number 19911, or apply "Together for monitoring" on intelligent devices, to receive enquiries and complaints about labour market irregularities.



- The ministry has launched a number of initiatives: launch of "Support for enterprise settlement growth", "organization of work remotely", "organization of self-employment" program and "settlement in areas", in addition to the campaign "correcting activities", "launching and Developing Ranges program", and "partial work program", so as to enhance the participation of Saudis in the labor market.

RIYADH'S FIRST HALF  MARATHON BRINGS 2 MILLION RIYALS PRIZES FOR EXPATS & CITIZENS

Riyadh's 1st official Half Marathon brings prizes worth 2 Million Saudi Riyals, The event is on 24th February 2018 and it is open for both citizens and expatriates of all age groups.




The Riyadh Half Marathon will be in 3 categories, Professional Run, Amateur Run and Fun Run, Online Registrations are open till 20th Feb 2018, Mobile and On site registrations till 24th Feb 2018.

1. Professional Run : It is for professionals and the distance to run in this category is 21 Km, It starts on 1 PM from King Saud University, The minimum age to qualify for this run is 18 years.




2. Amateur Run : The distance to run in this category is 8 Km, It starts on 3.15 PM to Athletes with disabilities and 3.30 PM for all others, It starts from Kind Saud University, The minimum age required to register in this category is 15 years.

3. Fun Run : This category is open for all, The distance to run here is 4 Km, It starts on 4.30 PM at King Saud University, All age people are welcome in this category.




- All participants will receive medal, Each category will have 10 prizes and accolades. Prizes distribution ceremony will be on same day after Isha prayer.

- On online registration, Runners will receive an email with information to activate, They need to be present at start points at least half hour before the race begins, Runners can collect their bibs and running numbers at King Saud University Stadium at 21st, 22nd and 23rd February from 4 PM to 11 PM.



Professional Run Prizes :

1st Prize : 500,000 Saudi Riyals
2nd Prize : 100,000 Saudi Riyals
3rd Prize : 50,000 Saudi Riyals

Amateur Run Prizes :

1st Prize : A Car
2nd Prize : 10,000 Saudi Riyals
3rd Prize : 5,000 Saudi Riyals

Fun Run Prizes :

1st Prize : 5,000 Saudi Riyals
2nd Prize : 4,000 Saudi Riyals
3rd Prize : 3,000 Saudi Riyals
